IPS officer returns to UP cadre after serving long-term central deputation
Nachiketa Jha has stayed away from the political upheaval of Uttar Pradesh for more than a decade
Lucknow: Nachiketa Jha, an IG level IPS officer posted on central deputation, returned to the UP cadre now. Jha, a resident of Ranchi- Jharkhand, did his Masters and studied law, he became IPS in 2003 and joined the UP cadre.
Earlier, during his probation period he worked as ASP in Varanasi. In the year 2006, he was transferred to the post of superintendent of police Economic Wing Kanpur.
Then after he took over the charge of SP Auraiya, in the year 2009, he was released for central deputation.
Nachiketa Jha, who has been posted on central deputation for the past several years, has served as deputy director in the Intelligence Bureau.
He has also held important postings under the ministry of external affairs. It is noteworthy that Jha has stayed away from the political upheaval of UP for more than a decade. According to a former IPS officer, there are very few officers who have been posted in the center for a long time.
He said that returning to the normal policing system after working in an agency like IB remains challenging. However, the image of Nachiketa Jha has been that of a hardworking and serious officer.
At a time when elections are only a few months away , IPS Nachiketa has returned from central deputation. Whereas at such times, most officers consider it more appropriate to move to the central deputation to avoid any possible political controversy.
