India builds helipad close to China border in Arunachal
Aalo (Arunachal Pradesh): India has constructed a helipad in Aalo district of Arunachal Pradesh. But there is a plan to expand it so that more helicopters can land and take off here.
China’s heliport in Zayu County near the Arunachal border is located in Nyingchi, Tibet, just 20 km from the Indian border. In response, India built a helipad at Kiyang in Aalo, 150 km from the China border, which was recently inaugurated by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on October 12.
At present, one helicopter can land at a time and two helicopters can be parked at the helipad built by the Border Roads Organisation in Kiyang.
This helipad of Kiyang, built under the Brahmank project of the Border Roads Organisation, has cost `6 crore 27 lakh and is said to be the biggest helipad in the region.
It has also been used in Operation Chaukas in Arunachal recently and a Chinook helicopter successfully landed here. With the construction of this helipad, help can be provided to the soldiers.
