In Noida, UP’s 1st woman police commissioner: Laxmi Singh

Lucknow: IG rank IPS officer Laxmi Singh, 48, on Wednesday took charge as the police commissioner of Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida), becoming the first woman officer to head a Police Commissionerate in Uttar Pradesh. Singh, a 2000-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, has replaced Additional Director General Alok Singh, who has been shunted to DGP headquarters along with A. Satish Ganesh, who was removed from the post of Varanasi Police Commissioner. Ashok Mutha Jain has been appointed as the new police commissioner in Varanasi. Uttar Pradesh's three new commissionerates in Ghaziabad, Agra and Prayagraj also saw their first police commissioners taking charge on Wednesday. Ajay Kumar Mishra assumed charge in Ghaziabad, Preetinder Singh in Agra, and Ramit Sharma in Prayagraj. The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government had issued an order for the posting of five Police Commissioners on Monday night, as part of the transfer of 16 IPS officers.

In the latest reshuffle, Home Department Secretary Tarun Baba has been made the new IG of Lucknow Zone, while Rakesh Singh has been made the new DIG of Bareilly Zone and Chandraprakash (II) the new IG of Prayagraj Zone. Ghaziabad SSP Muniraj has been made the new Ayodhya SP, Prashant Sharma has been made Bahraich's new SP, while Bahraich SP Keshav Kumar Chaudhary has been made ACP Agra. Shailendra Pandey has been made SSP Mathura, Abhishek Yadav has been made SP LIU Lucknow, and Prabhakar Chowdhary has been transferred from SSP Agra to 11th Corps PAC Sitapur.
