Human trafficker held, 1 girl rescued

Bahraich: Alert SSB personnel posted at the Rupaidiha Nepal border here arrested a human trafficker who was taking a girl of Nepali origin to Ahmedabad. The rescued girl has been handed over to the Nepal Police by the SSB and it is learnt that the girl has been given in the care of the NGO, Shakti Samuha.

The India-Nepal border is notorious for being a free route for human traffickers. Many a time SSB personnel have freed girls native to Nepal from the clutches of human traffickers. In the latest such incident at the Rupaidiha border, SSB jawans during a routine check came upon a Nepali girl travelling along with a man named Hari Hamal, resident of district Surkhet in Nepal. The SSB jawans apprehended the man on suspicion and during interrogation the man confessed that he had planned to take the girl to Ahmedabad on the pretext of getting her work.

SSB officials said that the arrested accused confessed that he has been involved in human trafficking for a long time and has sold off many Nepali origin girls to various people in many states of India.
