"Huge day not just for party, but for whole nation": AAP National General Secretary Sandeep Pathak on Kejiwal's bail
New Delhi: Following Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's bail by the Supreme Court in relation to the excise policy case, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National General Secretary (Organisation) Sandeep Pathak said on Friday that it was a "huge day," not just for the party but for the whole nation as well as everyone who had faith in the republic and the judicial process.
Speaking to the media, Pathak said that he welcomed the court's decision and that it was a victory of truth.
"This is a huge day, not just for the party, but for the whole nation and every person who has faith in the republic and judicial process... This is the victory of the truth and I hope this remains the same in the future also. We welcome the court's decision," he said.
Pathak emphasised the importance of the judiciary and the verdicts that it gives and that it creates faith in the minds of the people despite "how dirty politics becomes."
"For our country, the way the judiciary gives verdicts must create some faith in the minds of the people of the country, despite how dirty politics becomes. The judiciary is above the board... It's not about just one man or one party; it's about the country and it's a historic day for the country," he added.
Following the verdict by the Supreme Court, AAP MP Raghav Chadha welcomed the court's decision, saying that truth can be troubled but not defeated.
In a post on X, Chadha said, "Welcome back, Arvind Kejriwal, we missed you! Truth can be troubled but not defeated! Finally, the Honourable Supreme Court has given its decision to release Delhi's son, Arvind Kejriwal, from the shackles of jail. Thanks to Honorable Supreme Court!."
Former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi and AAP leader Manish Sisodia also welcomed the decision, saying once again the truth has won in the fight against lies and conspiracies.
In a post on X, Sisodia said, "Today once again, truth has won in the fight against lies and conspiracies. I once again pay my tribute to the thinking and foresight of Baba Saheb Ambedkar ji, who 75 years ago had strengthened the common man against any future dictator."
Earlier today, the Supreme Court granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a corruption case registered by CBI in the alleged excise policy scam. The Supreme Court said prolonged incarceration amounts to unjust deprivation of liberty.
