Himachal: Two-storey house gutted in fire in Shimla, no casualties reported

Shimla: A fire broke out in a two-storey old wooden building in the Tutikandi area of Shimla on Sunday morning, officials said.

Upon receiving the information, fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the blaze.

Informing about the reason for the fire, Deputy Mayor of Shimla Municipal Corporation, Uma Kaushal said that the fire broke out due to the electric short circuit but since no one was present in the building, no casualties were reported.
The building that caught fire was an old building and it had four flats of accommodation. Out of four flats, one was occupied by a family and the other three were vacant.
"During the fire incident, the family members and occupants were out of the station and no one was present in the building. Locals informed the fire officials about the incident. The building was gutted into fire completely but fortunately, the nearby buildings were saved by the fire control team," Deputy Mayor Kaushal said.
"The locals have already removed the LPG cylinders from the building and prevented more damage," she added.
