He is a failed education minister; he should resign: Congress MP Manickam Tagore on Dharmendra Pradhan
New Delhi: Congress MP Manickam Tagore lashed out at Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, saying that he is a failed minister and he should resign.
Speaking on the topic of the NEET-UG paper leak, which was addressed by Pradhan in today's session in the Lok Sabha, Tagore said it was a very important issue that they wanted to have a discussion on but till now the ruling party is not ready to have a discussion on it.
"NEET is an important issue on which we wanted to have a discussion. Till now, they are not ready to have a discussion... The education minister is a failed education minister... If he has any integrity or morality, he should have resigned," he said.
Tagore further accused the Union government of diverting real issues and wanting to raise people's issues.
"We also want our people's issues to be raised in parliament... He (PM Modi) wants to divert from the real issues. We all want the parliament to function...But the ruling party is not ready to have a discussion," he stated.
Earlier, Tagore gave an adjournment motion notice in Lok Sabha, demanding a discussion on the ongoing controversy over the alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) and University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
In his notice, Manickam Tagore urged the House to suspend all listed business of the day to discuss the "unprecedented cases of paper leaks in the conduct of exams including NEET-UG and UGC NET and the failure of the National Testing Agency (NTA)."
Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha witnessed several adjournments in the last session, with Congress and other opposition parties insisting on a debate on the NEET-UG controversy while the government was keen to take up the motion of thanks on the President's address.
