Have Tharoor’s candidature hidden ‘scripted’ electioneering of Cong?

New Delhi: Even before the results of Congress President’s election were out, Shashi Tharoor and his team had started making allegations of election malpractices. Shortly after the counting of votes began on Wednesday, Tharoor’s election agent Salman Soz made allegations of election rigging. He said that he was in touch with the head of the election authority Madhusudan Mistry and informed him about many things. However, he said that he cannot go into detail about it. He made allegations of electoral malpractices in Uttar Pradesh, which has the maximum number of representatives, approximately eleven hundred. Tharoor’s team also demanded cancellation of elections in UP. Earlier, during the election campaign, Tharoor himself had alleged of favoritism. The allegations and complaints leveled by Shashi Tharoor and his team, who contested the election against Mallikarjun Kharge, have given legitimacy to this election. No one can call this election a mixed game, however, it was actually so. A face was needed to fight against a candidate backed by Sonia and Rahul, who had the image of an independent leader. Shashi Tharoor was meeting this criterion because he was also a member of G23 and used to give statements from time to time regarding the policies of the party. Now his complaints will further prove that he was not a proxy candidate, but contested the election of his own free will, with full preparation. The Congress party wanted to create this message so that no one can call the election of the President as a sham and in this agenda, Congress has tasted success.
