Government mulls panel of retd officers for timely probe of cases involving babus

Lucknow: In view of increasing investigations against the administrative officers in UP, efforts are being made on a new system to complete investigations in all the allegations related to administrative officers in the state in time by roping in retired officers for the task. Directives have also been issued to prepare a note related to this and provide a proposal thereafter.

Efforts are also being made to form a committee besides a panel to complete the investigation on time under the new system. In UP, the government has always been investigating complaints and allegations received against PCS and IAS officers from various levels by entrusting its responsibility to IAS officers.

Due to this the officers who already have a lot of pressure of regular work fail to complete the investigation in time owing to which promotion is delayed besides at times have to go through the court process which futher entangles the matter.

The investigating IAS officers at times also have to face adverse remarks due to noncompletion of investigation in time. In view of such situation the government is contemplating to form a panel of retired IAS officers to dispose of all these investigation related matters in time.

According to the officers of bureaucracy posted in the government, if the case of IAS and PCS officers is found to be worth investigating then one of the competent officers can be nominated from the panel of retired IAS officers for investigation within a time limit for which the latter would receive honorarium.

The arrangement for it is being considered and soon a proposal related to this would be presented before the competent level officers.
