Four Dalits beaten up in Maharashtra village; 1 accused held

Ahmednagar: One person was arrested after an FIR was registered against six people for allegedly thrashing four youths from the Dalit community in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district, police on said Monday.
The accused have been booked under sections of IPC 307 (attempt to murder) and IPC 364 (kidnapping) as well as relevant sections of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.  
The incident came to light after a purported video of the incident surfaced on social media. According to the police, the accused men allegedly abducted the four Dalit youths from their homes in Haregaon under the Shrirampur police station.
They were thrashed and hanged upside down from a tree on the suspicion that they had stolen goats and pigeons.
The victims have alleged that the accused also urinated on them.
The incident is said to be of August 25 and the injured men are undergoing treatment in a city hospital after locals rescued them.
Additional SP, Ahmednagar, Swati Bhor said, “An FIR has been registered based on the complaint of victims and so far one person has been arrested. A hunt is on to nab the absconding accused.”
The accused named in the FIR have been identified as Yuvraj Galande, Manoj Bodke, Pappu Parakhe, Deepak Gaikwad, Durgesh Vaidya and Raju Borag. (ANI)
