Forest department begins preps for 400 km cheetah landscape

Jaipur: Preparation for the 400-kilometre-long cheetah landscape in Rajasthan is being done. Under this, cheetahs will be settled from Dholpur to Rawatbhata. Forest department officials are preparing to sing an MoU with Madhya Pradesh for this.

An expert committee will soon be formed and the draft of MoU will be ready after the report arrives. Among the other important announcements made during the budget, settlement of cheetahs in Rajasthan was also promised.

Gandhi Sagar sanctuary, Bhainsrodgarh Sanctuary, Chittorgarh and Chambal sanctuary will be connected to Kuno National Park. The plan is to build a corridor for the movement of leopards and also a safari.

While signing the MoU with MP, a feasibility study will be done. PCCF & CWLW Pawan Upadhyay has already held talks with CWLW of Madhya Pradesh regarding this. The expert committee is likely to be formed by early September.
