Flag raised at Buland Darwaza marking formal beginning of Urs

Ajmer: As the 810th Urs of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti (Garib Nawaz) begins, the flag was raised at the Buland Darwaza here on Saturday.

Fakhruddin, the grandson of Lal Mohammad Gauri of Bhilwara, performed this ritual. The Gauri family has been performing this ritual since 1944.

The Urs will duly begin when the moon of Rajab is sighted. The flag ceremony marks the formal beginning of the Urs.

The faithful will start visiting the dargah in the days to come. Various rituals and programmes will be organised during this time.
