Filmfare reacts to Kangana Ranaut's accusations; declare withdrawing her from Best Actor race

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Kangana Ranaut is known not only for her talented work but also for her outspoken nature in her personal life. Recently, the actress accused the Filmfare magazine of corrupt and unethical practices and stated that although she banned the awards night in 2014 itself, the fact that they still nominated her is shocking. She also added that she had been getting many calls from them as they wanted her to give her the award. Kangana was nominated in the Best Actress category for her film ‘Thalaivi’ this year.

Now, replying to her accusations, Filmfare magazine took to their official website to clarify the same. Stating that they have been subjected to unwarranted malicious comments, the association added the exact message that they said they sent across to Kangana. It read, “Hello Kangana, heartiest congratulations on your nomination for the Filmfare Awards. It’ll be a pleasure to have you there, do confirm your presence at the awards ceremony on August 30 at Jio World Convention Centre at BKC, Mumbai. It’ll help us plot your seats. P.S. Please send us your residential address so that we can send you the invite. Regards.” They further wrote that there was no insinuation of the award being given to her or any request for performance at the event.

Filmfare even mentioned that they will be withdrawing Kangana’s nomination from the Best Actor, Female category and reserve all rights “to pursue any legal action against her malicious and defamatory statements tarnishing their reputation and goodwill.”
