Fathers’ Day: Celebs get candid about the bond they share with their fathers
Mumbai (Maharashtra): Be it an equation where they are as close as pals, or one where they don’t express much, their dads have always occupied a special place in the hearts of these celebrities.
Anuj Sachdeva
While actor Anuj Sachdeva and his father never really shared a relationship that involved a lot of words, it has always been full of love and comfort. Talking about their relationship, Anuj says, “Our relationship is similar to how people usually have with their father. He has always been the stepping stone in my career due to the logic that he used to share earlier. His way of working and his ideology is what I follow now. That's how I have become more like my father. I look a lot like my father (laughs).”
Aalisha Panwar
Talking about her Father’s Day memories, Aalisha says, “Since childhood, my sister and I used to either bake a cake or make little creative cards for him. He still has them. My father is my superhero. I always wanted to be an actress and my mom and dad did not stop me. Many relatives were against this and said that they should stop me from going to Mumbai as it's not a safe platform. But my dad trusted and believed in me. Just as behind every successful man, there's a woman, there is a man behind every successful woman too and mine was my dad.
Sudha Chandran
The relationship that actress Sudha Chandran shared with her late father was surreal. “When I was lying in the hospital, after my amputation, he walked up to me and said, ‘I shall be that leg that you lost’. So, I asked my father for how long and he promised me, ‘I don't know how long I will live with my dear daughter, but I will pray to God that he gives me that long life that I shall make you successful.’ After I danced for the first time with my artificial limb and came home, he touched my feet. I asked, ‘Dad, what are you doing?’, he replied, ‘Sudha I am not bowing my head in front of my daughter, but touching the feet of Lord Saraswati who reigns in your legs.’ I think this was the biggest tribute that came to me from my father,” she says.
Nasirr Khan
Of all the siblings, I shared the best relationship with my father. I never heard him scream or shout - he was always kind and gentle. But he was a man of principles. He let me be me and chose my path but, at the same time, he stood by me at every step. He was always there for us and mom, always. As I grew, I started realizing what an amazing personality he truly was - as I learnt a lot of his stories from my uncles and other family members - the good that he had been silently doing for others.
