"Extremely saddening...": Amit Shah expresses grief over school bus accident in Mahendragarh
New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday expressed condolences over Haryana's Mahendragarh bus accident that claimed the lives of five children and prayed for the "speedy recovery of the injured."
Shah's statement comes moments after the news aired about the accident of a private school bus near Unhani village in the Kanina area of Mahendergarh district after the driver tried to overtake another vehicle, leaving an unprecedented incident in which five students lost their lives and 15 suffered injuries.
"The accident of the school bus in Mahendragarh, Haryana, is extremely saddening. My condolences are with the grieving families of the deceased children. May God give them the strength to bear this sorrow. The injured children are being provided assistance by the local administration. I hope for their speedy recovery," Shah took to 'X', formerly known as Twitter, to express his sorrow.
A student who suffered injuries after the private school bus met with an accident in Mahendragarh's Kanina said, "The driver was drunk and he kept the speed at 120, which led to misbalance."
Ravi Kaushik, a doctor at Nihal Hospital, said that four students were brought dead, whereas one succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
"Four students were brought dead, and one critical student who was put on a ventilator passed away at the hospital. 15 injured students have been referred to another hospital. SDM and administration are present," the doctor said.
Police officials said that the school bus belongs to GL Public School in Kanina. The school was functioning despite a holiday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
