Expedite process of shifting people from protected areas: CS to officials

Jaipur: Chief Secretary Niranjan Arya during a meeting of the State Level Monitoring Committee at the Secretariat here on Monday, directed the officers to make a strategy for each protected area and work on the voluntary displacement of the people living in those areas and the benefits of the displacement package given by the government.

He directed the officers of the forest department that for the protection of tigers and other wildlife, it is necessary to expedite the process of displacement of people living in protected areas.

Arya directed the officers of the department and the district collectors concerned that separate strategies should be made for the three tiger reserves -- Ranthambore, Sariska and Mukundra.

Principal Secretary, forest department, Sreya Guha gave detailed information about the progress made so far.

Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief Wildlife Warden Arindam Tomar said that the displacement scheme would provide adequate space to tigers and other wildlife.

Villagers living around the tiger project area in all three tiger reserves are being shifted.
