Excise department suspends 7 officers in Alwar due to poor revenue performance
Jaipur: Showing strictness for enhancing revenue collection, the excise department has suspended seven personnel in Alwar district on Saturday.
Excise Commissioner Nakate Shivprasad has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the revenue collection performance of officers.
As a result, excise inspector (Lakshamnagrh) Sanjeev Sharma and other staffers - Sher Singh Bhayal, Santosh Gurjar, Brijmohan Gurjar and Harswaroop were suspended. Guard Satyaveer and Ramesh were also suspended.
DEO Archana Jaiman and Excise inspector (Alwar) Neeraj Sharma were served show cause notice. The commissioner is closely monitoring performance metrics across other zones, including Kota, Bikaner, and Sikar. He has warned that if improvements are not observed, additional suspensions could be imminent within the next ten days.
The department has set an ambitious revenue target of Rs 17,000 crore for the financial year; however, performance disparities have raised concerns. In September, only Rs 997.23 crore was collected.
