Ex-IAS Awasthi to get big role in UP govt

Lucknow: A day after his retirment from Uttar Pradesh bureaucracy, there is a grapevine in the bureaucratic and political circles of UP that former IAS Avnish Awasthi can get a big responsibility in the government. Word is that discussion is going on in ‘relevant positions’ of making Avnish Awasthi as Chairman / CEO of UPIDA. Furthermore, it is also being said that he could also be appointed as Chief Advisor of CM Yogi Adityanath.

Avnish Awasthi is one of the trusted officers of CM Yogi who retired on August 31. It is being said that preparation is being done to change the bylaws of UPIDA to make a nongazetted post wherein a Non Gazetted Officer could be posted, on the lines of Yamuna Authority. Notably, rules have been changed for Omvir Singh, CEO of Yamuna Authority and now similar changes could be done to accomodate Awasthi, for which UP’s Industrial Development Department could bring a proposal. Avnish Kumar Awasthi, a 1987 batch IAS officer, retired on Wednesday i.e. August 31 and a farewell party was organized in the Chief Minister’s Office Lok Bhavan on the same day. Senior bureaucrats of the state attended the farewell and later in the evening, the police department organized a dinner in honor of Awasthi.
