Ektaa Kapoor talks about Laal Singh Chaddha boycott; calls the Khans soft ambassadors of India

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Even before its release, Aamir Khan’s pet project, Laal Singh Chaddha was surrounded by controversy and hatred. Netizens were too eager to boycott and ban the film over religious sentiments, which were not related to the film in general. Now, with Laal Singh Chaddha’s poor performance at the box office, the question remains on how much power these trolls hold to restrain a film from performing well. There are more than many reasons behind the underperformance of the project that Aamir had put his blood, sweat and tears in. Nonetheless, it is a shame that even the star power of Mr Perfectionist who before this has given Bollywood some of its biggest hits, could not pull audiences into theatres.

However, in these tough times, Bollywood remains to stand for each other as actors and other celebrities have hailed the film and Aamir for their hard work and perseverance. Ektaa Kapoor, a producer who has been in Bollywood for years and fished out some of the most popular tv shows and films too had her say in the matter. At the screening of Taapsee Pannu’s Dobaaraa, the production giant commended the three Khans for giving Bollywood so much and even declared that Aamir is someone who cannot be banned.

She said, “It is so weird, that we are banning the very people who have given so much business to the industry. The Khans and especially Aamir Khan is a legend. You cannot boycott him. He cannot be boycotted. You cannot boycott the soft ambassadors of India.”
