Delhi Police arrest three in drug case from Najafgarh

New Delhi: The Anti-Narcotics Cell in Dwarka District, Delhi, recently made a significant arrest involving a drug peddler and two consumers. The operation led to the seizure of a substantial amount of psychotropic substances, officials said on Wednesday.
The raid was conducted based on secret information and local surveillance, leading the team to Sharma Medical Hall in Najafgarh. Prashant Sharma, the owner of the medical hall, was found in possession of 98 tablets of Buprenorphine medicine (a psychotropic substance) and 08 Avil injections with syringes and needles. Additionally, two consumers, Md. Wahid and Lalit Rohilla, were apprehended. They were found with one tablet, one syringe, one Avil injection, and two needle kit sets. During interrogation, they admitted to consuming these substances as psychotropic drugs, purchased recently from Sharma Medical Hall.
Further investigation revealed that Prashant Sharma, despite having studied till B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication, had resorted to selling these medicines to make ends meet. He started by supplying Buprenorphine tablets and injections on a scooty, later opening a medical store in Chhawla Bus stand, and then relocating to Indira Park, Najafgarh, due to lack of customers.
Unable to attract sufficient business, he turned to selling Buprenorphine tablets and injections to drug addicts. Prashant Sharma purchased the drugs without bills from a supplier named Prateek through WhatsApp, residing in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad.
The accused were arrested under the NDPS Act, and while Md. Wahid and Lalit Rohilla were granted bail due to the nature of their offense, Prashant Sharma was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
Investigations are ongoing to trace his associates and the source of the drugs.
