Dalit delivery boy thrashed in Ashiyana

Lucknow: Police have registered a case against two named and 12 unnamed persons for thrashing and humiliating a Dalit food delivery boy in Ashiyana area. Police sources here said that Vineet Rawat went to deliver food in Ashiyana area late on Saturday night at the residence of Ajay Singh. Singh asked for his name and when he learnt that Vineet was from Dalit community, Singh and his family members beat him up.

In his complaint Vineet alleged that the customer threw food packets and spit at his face. Deepak Pandey, inspector at Ashiyana police station, said that during investigation it was revealed that Singh did not spit at face of Vineet intentionally. Singh was chewing pan masala and the spit came out when he spoke. Pandey said that Vineet created a ruckus after which Singh and his family members thrashed him.
