CPM in dilemma to choose the less harmful ‘foe’!

New Delhi: It is either Mamata Banerjee who is taking the initiative to form a federal front against the Bharatiya Janata Party’s central government, or it is K Chandrashekhar Rao who is doing so.

In fact, both of them have taken all the initiatives so far. Mamata Banerjee had gone to Mumbai in December last year to meet Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar, while Chandrashekhar Rao met Uddhav and Pawar on Sunday.

Of the two leaders leading the federal front, Mamata Banerjee is completely against keeping the Congress in this alliance, while Chandrashekhar Rao was against it earlier, but is now showing goodwill towards the Congress party.

Mamata also wants to keep the Left Front out of it and this is why the Left Front has started to thwart this attempt. CPM says that instead of Mamata Banerjee and Rao, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin should take the initiative to form such a front. Keep in mind that Stalin’s party is an old alliance of Left with DMK. In the last two elections, both the parties fought together.

The CPM has played this bet with great care. If Stalin takes any initiative, there will be room for both the Congress and the Left.

Chandrashekhar Rao will not have any problem with this and Mamata Banerjee will be on the sidelines. But ‘Didi; understands this bet and she feels that Congress is somewhere behind this move.

There is also an attempt by the Left to hold this front till next year as the party is looking forward to return to power in Tripura next year.

If his government is formed in the two states of Kerala and Tripura, then its ‘pressure’ will be more useful.
