Court rejects Rs 85 L claim in Bisalpur dam drowning
Jaipur: In a significant ruling, the court has rejected an 85.18 lakh claim filed against the Water Resources Department and others over the tragic death of 24-year-old tourist Ankush Sharma, who drowned at Bisalpur Dam on August 15, 2018. His wife Priyanka, their two young children, and his parents had sought compensation, citing negligence due to the absence of safety measures at the dam site. However, Judge Suresh Kumar dismissed the claim, stating the petitioners failed to prove govt negligence.
Government advocate Bina Kumari defended the case, arguing that the incident was caused by the deceased’s own carelessness. According to a Deoli police report, Sharma drowned after drifting downstream into the Banas River. The court ruled the state was not liable for the incident.
