"Congress has a shortage of candidates": BJP's Giriraj Singh on Congress giving Lok Sabha ticket to Kanhaiya Kumar
Begusarai: Union minister and BJP candidate from Begusarai, Giriraj Singh reacted to Congress giving a Lok Sabha ticket to Kanhaiya Kumar from the North East Delhi constituency, saying that Congress is facing a shortage of candidates and therefore is trying to manage the elections with the rejected people.
Speaking to ANI, he said, "Congress has a shortage of candidates... They are struggling and trying to manage it with the rejected people. They can contest anyone from anywhere. No one can defeat Manoj Tiwari..."
On April 14, the Congress announced the Lok Sabha candidates for three seats in Delhi. Kanhaiya Kumar will contest elections from North East Delhi.
Kanhaiya Kumar, who has served as the president of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union, will take on Bhojpuri actor-singer and incumbent BJP MP Manoj Tiwari from North East Delhi.
Kumar will be contesting his second Lok Sabha election. In 2019, he contested as a Communist Party of India (CPI) candidate from Bihar's Begusarai, wherein he lost to Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Giriraj Singh. Later, he joined the Congress in 2021.
Manoj Tiwari is a two-time MP from the North East Delhi constituency. In 2014, the Bhojpuri actor-turned-politician defeated former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit.
The Lok Sabha elections in Delhi will be held in a single phase on May 25, 2024. Voting in Delhi will be held for 7 Lok Sabha seats.
The counting of the votes will be done collectively across the nation on June 4.
