Congress engages in a ‘balancing act’ in Haryana!

New Delhi: The Congress party has handed over the command of Haryana politics almost entirely to Bhupinder Singh Hooda. But at the same time, the party high command is also working to strike a balance in the politics of the state. Randeep Singh Surjewala was first ‘balanced’ as after handing over the command of the state to Hooda, Surjewala was made a member of the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan but was also removed from the post of media in-charge. Now he is the general secretary of the party and is in-charge of Karnataka. As soon as he was removed from the post of media incharge, his face has disappeared from the media and reportedly, Hooda camp is satisfied with this development.

After balancing Surjewala, the party made Kumari Selja a member of the Congress Working Committee. Keep in mind that she is the Dalit face of the party and was the state president of Congress for years. Her Rajya Sabha seat was taken by Hooda for his son in the last election. By making her a member of the working committee, the party has struck a perfect balance. Hooda is the leader of the legislature party and his close aide Udaybhan is the state president. The second big leader has been made the national general secretary by the party and the third leader has been nominated in the working committee. Now it remains to be seen how long this balance lasts and how effective it will be in the next election.
