CONGRESS CRIES ‘VENDETTA POLITICS’

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday summoned Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her MP son Rahul Gandhi for questioning in a money laundering case linked to the National Herald newspaper, officials said.

The case was registered recently to probe alleged financial irregularities in the party-promoted Young Indian that owns the National Herald newspaper. Statements of other Congress leaders, who were then office bearers of the National Herald and Associated Journals Limited (AJL), have also been recorded by the ED.

The case only involved the conversion of debt into equity to pay off dues like salaries, the Congress said, accusing the government of trying to deflect attention from “real issues” like inflation.
