Cong into damage control; after Jairam, Rahul calls Raut to pacify

New Delhi: The Congress is trying to persuade Sanjay Raut to make up for the loss caused by Rahul Gandhi’s statement on Vinayak Damodar Savarkar during Bharat Jodo Yatra. The Congress knows that Raut is not just the face of the Shiv Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray faction, but also the brain. Thus when Shiv Sena got angry after Rahul’s statement, Raut gave a statement on his behalf. He also targeted Rahul personally and said that what he was getting lost from the real agenda of his yatra through such statements. Since then, the Congress has been trying to somehow persuade Raut. After Raut’s statement, Jairam Ramesh called Raut. Ramesh tried to pacify him and clarified that Rahul has not attacked Savarkar, but has only stated a historical fact. After this, Rahul himself called Raut.
