COMMANDOS JUMP FROM CHOPPER

Soldiers showed exploits with Chetak, Dhruv and Rudra chopper on SWC’s Investiture ceremony

  •  14 GALLANTRY SENA MEDALS, 1 YSM, 4 DSM AND 5 VSM WERE AWARDED.
  •  DISPLAY OF WEAPONS WAS ALSO HELD.
  •  TOTAL 24 ARMY MEN WERE AWARDED INCLUDING 15 OFFICERS AND 3 JCOS, 6 SOLDIERS.

Jaipur: A grand decoration ceremony was organized by the South Western Command in Jaipur. The General Officer Commanding-inChief, South Western Command, Lt Gen Amardeep Singh Bhinder presented gallantry awards to the heroes who showed exemplary courage in difficult circumstances.

A total of 14 Gallantry Sena Medals, 1 Yudh Seva Medal, 4 Distinguished Sena Medals and 5 Vishisht Seva Medals were awarded in the ceremony. This year the awards were given to 15 officers, 3 junior commissioned officers and 6 soldiers

BHINDER COMMENDS HIGH STANDARDS

Lieutenant General Amardeep Singh Bhinder also gave citation to 15 units of South Western Command for their exemplary performance.

Bhinder interacted with the awardees and their families and appreciated his invaluable contribution in maintaining the highest standards of Indian Military Service.

In the program Chetak, Dhruv and Rudra helicopters of the Army gave a presentation of Surprise Surgical Strike in the skies. A display of weapons was also held at the 61 Cavalry Ground.

2 GALLANTRY AWARDS POSTHUMOUSLY

Among the awards, two Sena Medals (Gallantry) were posthumously awarded to Veerangana Gurdeep Kaur wife Naib Subedar Mandeep Singh and Veerangana Jaswinder Kaur wife Naib Subedar Satnam Singh. Both offi cers laid down their lives last year on June 16, 2020 in Ladakh.
