Chhattisgarh: 52-year-old man gets life imprisonment for raping disabled girl in Sakti
Sakti: A fast-track court in Sakti on Wednesday sentenced a 52-year-old man to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 2000 for raping a disabled girl.
The court of Special Judge Yashwant Sarathi convicted the man, Chanuram Nirala under sub-section 2 (l) of section 376 and section 450 of the IPC. Special Public Prosecutor Rakesh Mahant said, "The victim lives with her grandmother since childhood. She is physically and mentally handicapped. She speaks and listens with broken words, whose gestures are understood by her grandmother. Her grandmother works as a cook in a primary school".
"On September 23, the victim's grandmother had gone to school to prepare food around 10 am. The girl was the only person in the house. When her grandmother came back from school at 2:30 pm, the victim told her entire story that the accused Chanuram Nirala of the village had forcibly entered the house at around 12 pm and raped her," Mahant added.
The complainant along with the villagers lodged a complaint at the police station. Following which, the police registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. The police arrested the accused and sent him to jail in judicial custody. After the investigation of the case, the charge sheet was presented to the court for trial.
"During the trial, the court found him guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment under sub-section 2 (l) of section 376 of the IPC and a fine of Rs 1,000 and 5 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1000 under section 450 of the IPC," Mahant added. (ANI)
