Celebrations mark Shri Krishna Janmashtami

Jaipur: Birth celebrations of Lord Krisha were held in three temples in Jaipur on Friday. The consecration of Kanha took place in Shri Radha Damodar ji temple in Chauda Rasta, Ladliji temple in Ramgang and the Akshaya Patra Krishna Balaram temple in Jagatpura. “Badhai Geet” and “Mangal Geet” were sung and sweets were distributed among the devotees. Janmashtami is traditionally celebrated during the day in the 500- year old Shri Radha Damodar Ji temple. Just as a small child is not woken up till late at night, after the birth of Laddu Gopal, abhishek takes place and Laddu Gopal wears new clothes. Aarti is performed and bhog is offered. Around four lakh devotees turned up for Janmashtami celebrations at Govind Devji temple in Jaipur on Friday. A total of 31 air cannons were fired.
