BJP’S EYES ON DALIT VOTERS FOR UPCOMING ELECTIONS

Lucknow: In the run up to the general elections-2024, BJP is now gearing up to establish itself among various caste blocs. The saffron party, which successfully won a large chunk of Dalit voters in the 2022 assembly polls, is again eyeing these voters. Many outreach programs have been launched by BJP strategists to make inroads among these voters.

In order to strengthen social harmony and to instill confidence in the deprived section, recently CM Yogi and his cabinet ministers reached the homes of Dalit families and had food. CM Yogi dined with Maniram and his family during his recent visit to Ayodhya. Whereas, to realise the objective of the saffron camp Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak had dinner at the house of Bhola Shankar, Mandal President of SC Wing during his Varanasi tour. Jitin Prasad, Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, Jaiveer Singh and other ministers also followed the suit. Based on the analysis of the election results, political experts are of the opinion that in the recently concluded assembly elections, 22 percent of the Jatav voters, who are considered BSP’s staunch support base, shifted towards BJP.

At the same time, SP could get only nine per cent votes of this community. Since then, the BJP camp is making every effort to retain the unprecedented support of these voters. In the Yogi 2.0 cabinet, 8 ministers belonging to the SC and ST community have been included. BJP organized massive events on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti. Moreover, time-bound fulfillment of the promises made for the betterment of the Dalit communities in BJP’s election manifesto ‘Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra 2022’, has been included in the Yogi govt top priorities. According to a high-ranking functionary of the BJP state organization, their party has to increase the scope of its votebase in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
