BJP REMAINS CENTURIAN IN RAJYA SABHA, THANKS TO CONGRESS!

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party managed to win an additional seat in Maharashtra and Haryana because of its management, but the BJP won an additional seat in Karnataka because of Congress’s own doing. Congress resolved to defeat JDS instead of BJP in the interest of local politics of the state, due to which BJP won an additional seat. In terms of numbers, the BJP was going to get only two seats in Karnataka. But seeing the fight between Congress and JDS, it fielded the third candidate and this third candidate Lahar Singh Siroya won the election.

To win a seat in Karnataka, 46 votes were needed. The party was left with 24 votes after Congress’s first candidate Jairam Ramesh won. Another Congress candidate Mansoor Khan got 25 votes as a JDS MLA cross voted in his favour. On the other hand JDS candidate Kupendra Reddy got 30 votes. It is clear that if Congress had transferred its 24 votes to JDS, then JDS candidate would have won comfortably. It is being told that at the behest of HD Deve Gowda, Mallikarjun Kharge spoke to the party high command about this. But DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah made it clear that if BJP wins, it wins, however, he will not let JDS win. So, by winning one additional seat each in Maharashtra, Haryana and Karnataka, the BJP did not allow its Rajya Sabha MPs to be less than a hundred.
