BJP MPs face ‘no’ for Assembly polls, but not out of race for CM post

New Delhi: The hopes of many BJP MPs, in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, of contesting the Assembly elections seem to have dashed as the party High Command has apparently said a ‘big no’ for Assembly poll tickets to sitting MPs in the poll bound states.

However, the word in the relevant political circles is that there is still a silver lining for the MPs as the High Command may select the Chief Minister from among them, if the BJP forms the government. After appointment as the Chief Minister, the leader may contest from one of the Assembly seats.

Many Member of Parliaments (MPs) may be disappointed by this decision, but the High Command wanted all the MPs to focus on the election campaign of the entire State instead of one Assembly constituency.

Till now, the MPs who wanted to contest the elections had also selected the assembly constituencies for themselves due to the fear of being denied ticket in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Now, about six prominent Member of Parliament (MP) from the State of Rajasthan will remain out of the fray in Assembly polls and remain busy campaigning across the State.
