BJP leaders protest against high electricity, water bills in Delhi
New Delhi: Delhi BJP President Virendraa Sachdeva, along with other leaders of the party and workers, protested against the AAP-led Delhi government on Sunday, condemning it for the high electricity bills and not providing clean drinking water to the slum dwellers in Delhi.
Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, BJP MP from the South Delhi constituency, was also present at the protest and condemned the Kejriwal-led government for the exorbitant bills received by the shopkeepers in various slums. "If you ask the slum dwellers, they themselves get a high electricity bill, they get anywhere between Rs 4000 to Rs 6000 bill every month. Those who have a house meter they get a bill anywhere from Rs 1200 to Rs 3000," said the BJP MP.
The MP also claimed that the slum dwellers are complaining about not getting proper drinking water and that the people are not getting their ration cards or old age pensions. "From the last six years the Arvind Kejriwal government has stopped giving out ration cards. From the last six to seven years, the poor people, our old people are not getting their old age pensions from the government.", added the MP.
The South Delhi further criticised the Delhi government for not implementing the Ayushman Bharat scheme, where people are supposed to get free treatment upto 5 lakh in the country. "The people have also complained that if anyone gets sick then they get free treatment upto Rs 5 Lakh, whereas within Delhi the Arvind Kejriwal Government have not implemented this scheme properly. The Delhi government has not opened any dispensaries, nor opened any new hospital, or even a new primary school has been opened. I have been the representative of this area for over ten years, ask everyone we opened schools, made flyovers and those things are still being used by the people to this day", said Bidhuri.
Sachdeva also spoke about the various grievances faced by people in Delhi and assured the people that they would try their best to solve the problems presented while he checked the high electricity and water bills presented by the people.
