"Bittu has not been elected, he has been selected": Congress MP retorts at Ravneet Singh Bittu's remarks

New Delhi: Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla hit out at Union Minister and BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu on Friday, saying that the minister is showing his "loyalty to the BJP" while talking about Priyanka Gandhi getting elected into the Lok Sabha.
"These people (Priyanka Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi) have been elected by the people, not selected, Bittu is selected," Aujla told ANI.
The Congress MP further said that the Union Minister has a similar political lineage, with his relatives also being mostly political leaders.
"Bittu is now showing his loyalty to the BJP. Where was Bittu before? He was with this family, his grandfather, uncle, brothers, all of them had become ministers, now he is also hoping that saying certain things will get him favours and a cabinet (ministry), but BJP is not going to give him a cabinet (ministry)," Aujla said.
Earlier on Thursday, Union Minister of State for Railway and Food Processing Industries, Ravneet Singh Bittu took a jibe at the Gandhi family, stating that the family would be "happy and satisfied" as the entire Gandhi family is now in Parliament, following Priyanka Gandhi's election win.
"The entire Gandhi family is in Parliament now with Sonia Gandhi in Rajya Sabha and Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi in Lok Sabha. I am sure they are happy and satisfied now. Sonia Gandhi has been successful in this planning for her family. Congress is truly limited to the Gandhi family now," Bittu told ANI.
Meanwhile, Priyanka Gandhi said, "The priority will be to raise important issues concerning the nation. There is nothing above the Constitution for us, and we will continue to fight for it."
Rajya Sabha MP Sonia Gandhi expressed her happiness on Priyanka Gandhi taking oath in Parliament following her win in the recent Lok Sabha bypolls in Wayanad.
"We are all very happy and proud," Sonia Gandhi told ANI.
The Congress General Secretary took oath as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha while holding a copy of the Constitution. She secured the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat with a margin of 4,10,931 votes, defeating Sathyan Mokeri of the Communist Party of India (CPI).
Wayanad, a Congress stronghold, witnessed a triangular contest between Priyanka Gandhi, BJP's Navya Haridas, and CPI's Sathyan Mokeri.
The Wayanad seat was vacated by her brother Rahul Gandhi, who previously represented Wayanad but shifted to Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh after being elected to the Lok Sabha from there during this year's general elections.
