Ayodhya: Donning a golden kurta and a cream-coloured dhoti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the rituals of “Pran Pratishtha” ceremony at the “historic” Ram temple in Ayodhya on Monday. Lakhs of people watched the live-telecast of the ceremony on their televisions. Meanwhile, thousands of people from different walks of life came to Ayodhya to witness the grand event. At the same time, a few Opposition leaders celebrated the day in a different way.

The Ram Lalla idol was unveiled at the Pran Pratishtha ceremony attended by PM Modi as ‘Mukhya Yajman’. The unveiling happened after the hour-long rituals in the presence of PM Modi who led the ceremony. PM Modi performed the ‘aarti’ of the Ram Lalla idol. He also performed ‘parikrama’ of the deity and did ‘dandvat pranam’. He also took blessings from ‘sadhus’.

After the ceremony, he delivered a speech to address dignitaries at the event. He hit out at those who had opposed the contruction of Ram temple and said, “Ram is not fire, but an energy he belongs not just to us, but to everyone.” Modi visited Kuber Tila and unveiled a statue of ‘Jatayu’ on premises of the temple.
