Bengal: Former Naxalite leader wore flag celebrating Independence Day, said - I was on the wrong path

Naxal Leader Hoists National Flag: Speaking on the occasion, he said that earlier he used to hoist a black flag, but soon he realized that he is on the wrong path.

A very different view was seen on the occasion of Independence Day in the Midnapore district of West Bengal. A former Naxal leader here, Prasanta Mahato celebrated the 74th Independence Day with the locals hoisting the flag.

Not only this, after the flag hoisting ceremony, but people present on this occasion also sang the national anthem. Then sweets were distributed among the children.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that earlier he used to hoist a black flag, but soon he realized that he was on the wrong path. After this, they started following the Indian Constitution.

He told the news agency 'Earlier I was in the Naxalite organization. I organized Naxalite activities in this area from Bhimpur to Madhupur. We used to hoist black flags in this entire area. We realized our mistake then and after that, I started following the Indian Constitution and joined the mainstream.

Let me tell you that 74th Independence Day was celebrated across the country yesterday. On this occasion, PM Modi addressed the country from the ramparts of the historic Red Fort.
