Badal family's frustration over Sidhu

When Sidhu was in the BJP and the BJP was in sync with the Akali Dal, even then the Badal family did not get along with Sidhu.

But then Arun Jaitley used to look ‘handle’ Punjab from the BJP side and he used to maintain the balance. But in 2014, the Badal family created a feud between Jaitley and Sidhu.

Jaitley got the Amritsar seat vacated from Sidhu as he decided to contest from it and for this, Sidhu was also sent to the RS.

However, in that election, Captain Amarinder Singh defeated Jaitley. Even then the Badal family propagated that Sidhu did not work in Amritsar and he defeated Jaitley by fraternizing.

The end result of this campaign was that Sidhu left the BJP and went to Congress. Since then a one-on-one contest with the Badal family is going on.

This time, Bikram Majithia, brother of Parkash Singh Badal’s daughter-in-law Harsimrat Kaur Badal, has himself reached Amritsar East seat to challenge Sidhu. Keep in mind that in the 2014 LS elections, it was Majithia who was looking after the election campaign and other details for Jaitley.

But now Majithia has been fielded and therefore, it is needless to say, that Badals will put their entire strength behind him.
