New Delhi: Condemning the senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique's murder as "very sad", BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said on Sunday criminals will not be spared.
Speaking to ANI, Hussain said "The murder of Baba Siddique is very sad. He was a senior leader and was in NDA. He had a big name in Bandra. He was a resident of Bihar. He had made a big name In Mumbai. Two accused in the case have been arrested and one is absconding. Non one can escape after murdering under the rule of Shiv Sena-BJP. The criminals will not be spared."
BJP leader Shaina NC said that that the Chief Minister and Home Minister have clearly said that those who would take laws in their hands would be punished.
"It's very saddening to see the way Baba Siddique was murdered. The Home Minister and Chief Minister have clearly said that those who would take laws in their hands would be punished. I remember when I first contested my first election in 2004 against him from the Bandra West Constituency, there were no personal attacks made."
Siddique sustained two gunshot wounds to his chest before being brought to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital for emergency treatment, doctors at the hospital said.He was admitted around 9.30 pm on Saturday and, despite extensive resuscitative efforts, succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Earlier today, Indian filmmaker Ashoke Pandit has expressed deep shock and sadness over the killing of former minister.
Speaking to ANI, Pandit condemned the brutal attack and questioned how such an incident could happen to someone with "high-level security".
"Baba Siddiqui was a very dear friend of mine. A successful politician who had done enough work for people. Somebody who was a very loving person who had a good hold in his constituency. And an ever smiling, ever laughing person. Nobody could expect that this would have happened to a person like him, who had a Y category of security," the filmmaker said.
"Happening like this, somebody who has been given a proper security, a person who is a well-known person, who has always had people around him, and he's gunned down like this, is really a matter of concern. It's really a matter of concern for a common man, for people who live in this city of ours," he added.
