Ayan Mukerji aiming for December 2025 release for Brahmastra 2; will focus on Dev’s impact on the universe

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva has just been released but the film can significantly be called a success. After eight years of relentless work, Ayan Mukerji’s directorial has reached the hearts of the people. The story of Isha and Shiva resonated with people and fans are more than eager to know more about Shiva’s parents, Amrita and Dev. But now the question remained whether fans would get the second part of the trilogy sooner or would it take as much time as the first one took.

It seems that the light is closer than it appears as Ayan has announced that the team is aiming for a December 2025 release. While fans have been speculating names on who will play Dev, everyone is sure that Deepika Padukone will portray Amrita. Right from Hrithik Roshan and Ranveer Singh, fans have even theorised Ranbir Kapoor to don the double role of his father. But Ayan has kept his mum on the matter and decided to keep the big reveal a secret for now.

In an interview with Indian Express, the filmmaker mentioned that the second part will revolve around the backstory of Dev and Amrita and also take forward the present timeline. “I can answer very few things about Dev. The idea was to create a very clear indication of where we are going next with the storytelling. Now we are getting into the story of our antagonist. Decoding it, giving you some hook to hang on to for part two. Dev is the fulcrum of the entire Brahmastra trilogy,” he said.

Adding that the second part will showcase Dev’s impact on the universe, Ayan said, “The problems that this community and the world will face because of Brahmastra, what is the real stress with it. All of this will unfold in Dev’s story. His story is meant to take us back to his past but also, but he has returned to the present. So, the idea is, that we will be continuing the present story, but also telling you the story of the past.”
