Ats strikes ISI terror module busted, 3 held in multiple raids
Lucknow: Lucknow and Varanasi teams of UP Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) raided Kareli, Dandi area in Naini Prayagraj and Kunda (Pratapgarh) and busted ISI terror module, arresting three terrorists in the process.
Prashant Kumar, Additional Director General of Police (Law and order) said, “UP ATS has busted ISI sponsored module and arrested three terrorists in simultaneous raids in four districts Lucknow, Raebareli, Prayagraj and Pratapgarh”.
ADG said one live Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was recovered from Prayagraj district which was diffused by Bomb Disposal Squad. interrogations and further investigations were underway, he added.
It was reported that ATS had information about a suspect in Karamat Ki Chauki colony of Kareli area. ATS teams raided in the area and one suspect with explosives, IED and ammunition was arrested. Also, raids were conducted in Dandi area in Naini and one suspect was taken into custody from there.
ATS has also nabbed one suspect from Kunda area in Pratapgarh district. It was reported that he was assisting terrorists and further investigations were
Further raids can be conducted after interrogations, sources said. Earlier, the ATS had arrested three accused Minhar, Ahmed and Maseeruddin from Balaganj area of Lucknow and explosives including IED were recovered from them.
Investigation revealed that they were planning to unleash terror activities on August 15 at different locations. Following this, three more accused Mohammad Mustaqeem, Mohammad Moin and Shakeel were arrested on charges of helping the terrorists.
According to ATS they confessed to their crime. After that security was tightened in Mathura and other places. Meanwhile, in separate action on the same day, Delhi Police arrested three more terrorists from Kota and parts of Delhi.
“During a raid in the morning, a terrorist from Maharashtra was arrested in Rajasthan’s Kota. Three were arrested with the help of the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) while two others were caught in Delhi,” Neeraj Thakur, a senior Special Cell official said.
The arrested wer identified as Jaan Mohammad Shaikh (47) of Mumbai, Osama (22) of Delhi, Moolchand (47) of Raebareli, Zeeshan Qamar (28) of Prayagraj, Mohd. Abu Bakar (23) of Bahraich, and Mohd. Amir Javed (31) of Lucknow.
