Astraverse: Ayan Mukerji weaves the magic of storytelling into his world of astras

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Brahmastra is a very passionate and ambitious project of Ayan Mukerji who has been weaving the threads of the story for the past several years. Finally showcasing his passion project on the big screen, Brahmastra: Part One stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna and Mouni Roy. As the film reaches nearer to its release date i.e., September 9, the makers of the film are leaving no stone unturned to hype the audience about the film.

They recently released a video of the vision behind making the film. Taking to Instagram, even Alia Bhatt shared the video on her Instagram feed along with the caption, “The Vision of Brahmāstra💥 Brahmāstra releasing 09.09.2022🔥” The video features Ayan Mukerji introducing the world of astras, the Astraverse to the audience.

The filmmaker begins, “Vanarastra, Nandiastra, Prabhastra, Jalastra, Pawanastra and Brashmastra! In the past few years, we have been building a cinematic universe based on the concept of Astras, The Astraverse.”

Elaborating on the story of the Astraverse, Ayan explained, “Brahmastra: Part One is the first movie of this Astraverse and it begins with an image, from a mystical time in Ancient India of a group of great sages in deep meditation. And for their meditation, the sages are blessed with - the light of the universe. The most powerful and pure energy there is, falls on the earth from heaven - A Brahm Shakti.

From this Brahm Shakti, Astras were born! These Astras command all the different energies that are found in nature. Jalastra, Pawanastra,and the Agniastra. There are some Astras with the powers of different animals within them. Like Vanarastra with the power of a divine monkey, Nandi Astra with the strength of a thousand bulls.”

Mentioning the Brahmansh society, Ayan added, “But at the end, an Astra is born with the collective power of the Brahm-Shakti within it. An Astra is so powerful that it controls the powers of all other astras. The sages name it after one of the most powerful astras of our Gods...The Brahmastra!

The sages vow to protect these astras. Since then, they name themselves The Brahmansh. A secret community that will exist within society and do good for the world within the power of the astras. Time moves forward and the Brahmansh carries on passing the astras down from generation to generation all the way into our world today where the Brahmansh still exists amongst us, in secret.”

Talking about the first film, he said, “India as it is today, is where the story of Brahmastra One is set. And I believe this makes our movie very unique. Because a movie that combines ancient Indian inspiration within a modern world setting has never been done before. And the hero of our film is a young man who is anything but ordinary because even in this wondrous world of Astra...he is a miracle. He is an Astra in the human form - the Agniastra. Brahmastra: Part One is the story of this hero and this hero is named after the god who has had the deepest impact on my life - SHIVA.”

Brahmastra: Part One: Shiva is the first film in the Astraverse trilogy. Directed by Ayan Mukerji the film stars Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt as the main leads while Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna and Mouni Roy play pivotal roles in the film. The film is set to release in the theatres on September 9.
