Assam CM Biswa unfazed by retirement, assures job to 75% Agniveers

New Delhi: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has already ruled out any agitation against the Agneepath plan to recruit in the army. He announced that 75 percent of the Agniveers who would be retiring after four years of service in the army would be reinstated in the Assam Police. Earlier, states like Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand etc. had said that the retiring Agriveers would be given priority in the appointments of police and disaster management department, but Himanta said that all the retiring youths would be given jobs. If you look at it, it’s not even a big deal.

If on an average, GoI appoints 50 thousand Agniveers every year and out of them 37k people retire every 4 years, then in a small state like Assam, the number of Agniveers retiring will be around one thousand or so. Adjusting 1000 people in jobs every year is not a big deal. Even from big states, number of Agniveers who retire every year will not be very high.
