An era ends with the passing away of millennial’s beloved singer, KK

Thakurpurkar (Kolkata): Krishnakumar Kunnath popularly known as KK, 53, passed away on Tuesday night while performing at the Nazrul Mancha, Vivekananda College in Kolkata. The singer was rushed out of the event after he complained of chest pain but collapsed before he reached the hospital. The singer was shortly pronounced dead. A case of unnatural death has been registered. Post mortem will be conducted by doctors today to ascertain the exact cause of death. A viral video from the concert showcased the actor sweating profusely while fans stated that the AC was not working. He was shortly rushed out before he collapsed.

KK married his childhood sweetheart Jyothy in 1991. He is now survived by his wife and their two children, son Nakul Krishna Kunnath and daughter Tamara Kunnath.

KK was one of the most beloved singers whose voice especially resonated with the millennial generation. He sang in more than five languages including Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Odia, Kannada, Bengali, Assamese and Gujarati.

The singer who considered Lesle Lewis as his mentor got his first singing break for an ad jingle. After that, the singer sang more than 3,500 jingles in 11 different languages. He got his first playback singing opportunity with A.R. Rahman’s hit Kalluri Salley and Hello Dr.

KK debuted in Bollywood with the famous song Tadap Tadap from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999). After he was introduced as Saregama’s new artiste, the singer came up with his solo album Pal (1999) which featured one of the most renowned songs Yaaron and Pal. After that, the singer seemed unstoppable as he went on to gain national recognition for his soulful and melodious voice.

Few of the most famous songs of his career are Aankhon Mein Teri (Om Shaanti Om), Tadap Tadap (Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam), Kya Mujhe Pyaar Hai (Who Lamhe), Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar (MP3), Tu Jo Mila (Bajrangi Bhaijaan), Alvida (Life in a metro) and so many more.
