Akshay Kumar on the failure of films this year: I have to make the changes
Mumbai (Maharashtra): No one makes movies like Akshay Kumar and the fact that the actor has had three film launches in the span of eight months already shows that. The actor does not take much time to come in and out of character and yet deliver his performance with the same conviction. But it is not just the actor’s performance that a film depends on. As a result, both of his films released this year failed to attract audiences in the theatres. During the trailer launch of his third upcoming film, Cuttputli, Akshay shared his views on why films are not working nowadays and stated that there should be changes made for the same.
He was asked about the failure of all the films at the box office this year to which Khiladi Kumar replied, “Films are not working. It is our fault. It is my fault. I have to make the changes. I have to understand what the audience wants. I want to do my changes. I want to dismantle my way. Nobody else is to be blamed but it is me.”
Cuttputli is a surprise film of his which nobody was aware of until he announced it a few days ago. The trailer launch was met with much fanfare and even saw him perform a Cuttputli dance. The suspense-thriller film stars Rakul Preet, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Sargun Mehta and Chandrachur Singh as well. Directed by M Ranjit Tiwari, the film is inspired by the South hit, Ratsasan. It will have a direct OTT release and will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on September 2.
