Akshay and Ananya to star together in C Sankaran Nair biopic

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Dharma Productions has rarely produced a biopic and when it did, the film reached the skies. Shershaah based on the life of Captain Vikram Batra gained a lot of love and appreciation and was among the top hits of the production house. Now, Dharma is working on another such biopic based on C Sankaran Nair and the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

According to a report by Mid-Day, Akshay Kumar and Ananya Panday have been roped in to play the main leads in the movie. While Akshay will portray the titular character, Ananya will play a feisty junior lawyer under him. The courtroom drama has been named ‘The Untold Story of C Sankaran Nair’ and will be directed by debutant director Karan Singh Tyagi.

Ananya has yet to sign the agreement but it has been reported that she is finalised for the role. If she comes on board, it will be the first collaboration of the actress with Akshay Kumar.

Nair, a lawyer in the British era helped in reforming the British rule immensely. He was famous for his direct criticism of the British rule in India and for suggesting changes for the same. He was chosen to be a part of the Viceroy’s Council in 1915 but resigned from the post in 1919 as an aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The film will narrate the lawyer’s battle against the British Raj to uncover Punjab Lieutenant Governor Michael O’Dwyer’s role in the massacre.
