Ajay Shanker Pandey may soon become head of state commission

Lucknow: Senior IAS officer Dr Ajay Shanker Pandey, Commissioner of Jhansi division, may soon become the head of Subordinate Service Selection Commission or UP Public Service Commission.

Pandey, a 2005 batch UP cadre IAS officer, became Commissioner of Jhansi division on June 4, 2021 and is set to retire on July 31, 2022. Pandey had gone to Rajasthan on February 10, 2015 on Inter State Deputation during the regime of Akhilesh government, he returned to UP on February 15, 2019.

As soon as he returned to Uttar Pradesh, he exhibited his clout in bureaucracy by becoming District Magistrate of Muzaffarnagar.

He was promoted to rank of Commissioner in January 2021 but remained as DM of Ghaziabad for an additional six months, a posting from where he directly moved to become the Jhansi commissioner. Now, since he cannot get extension from DOPT, he has started making efforts to become Chairman of some commission in UP.

Hailing from Prayagraj, Pandey sent a letter to the Appointment department on June 10 seeking an NOC to become a member of a state commission. The file of the powerful IAS officer started moving like a rocket and within thirteen days he was given the NOC.
