AHEAD OF RESULTS, POLITICAL PARTIES ANNOUNCE THEIR OWN VICTORY

Lucknow: The voting process for the ongoing elections in UP has reached its final stage. In the six phases that have been completed so far, the fate of the candidates who have contested for 349 seats, out of 403 assembly seats, has been locked in the EVMs. Claims of victory of their respective party are being made by both the BJP and the SP.

Earlier, Union Home Minister and BJP’s star campaigner Amit Shah has claimed that in the five phases of the elections, BJP has got the majority figure.

He has also claimed that now in the seventh phase, voters will vote for the government with three hundred plus. Whereas, SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav has also put forward a huge claim and said that his party hit a century in the first two phases of voting for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

He said that the SP will form the government after the third and fourth phases. He has even added that by the 7th and final phase of the elections, silence will prevail at the BJP’s booths and people will find only ghosts there.

In the background of all these claims of victory, if one analyzes the phase wise results of the last elections held in 2017, then the calculation of seats got by BJP in five phases was like this.

53 out of 58 seats in the first phase; 38 out of 55 in the second phase; in the third phase, 49 out of 59 seats; Out of 59 seats in the fourth phase, the BJP and its allies together got 52 seats; whereas out of 61 seats in the fifth phase, the BJP and its allies got 53 seats.

The saffron camp had secured 245 seats in these five phases. It is evident from the fact that in the first five phases of the last elections, BJP had crossed the majority mark with ease. Out of 57 seats in the sixth phase, BJP had won 46 seats.

And at the same time, the party had approached very close to the figure of 300 plus a thumping majority. On the other hand, SP had got 36 seats in these five phases, Congress had got seven and BSP had got thirteen seats.
