Adivi Sesh and Saiee Manjrekar give an honest insight into their experience working on Major

Mumbai (Maharashtra): There are very few films that touch the hearts of the audience and remain in the memories of people for a long time. ‘Major’, a movie based on the life of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan is no different as it is gaining love and appreciation everywhere. The lead couple of Major, Adivi Sesh and Saiee Manjrekar sat down with Ashish Tiwari from First India Filmy to talk about their newly released film, their experience working on it and much more.

Talking about the positive reaction he is receiving for his film, Sesh stated that the movie started with the noble cause of making Major Sandeep’s story reach as many people as possible. “I am really happy about the reactions. We have done several premieres in different cities and every time we think that we are getting used to it, we get a different one. In Pune Commando Shyamraj Singh Ji came in his wheelchair to watch the film. In Ahmedabad, people were screaming as if it was one South Indian mass movie and in Jaipur, people were chanting ‘Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan Amar Rahe’. So, there were different reactions but all the same results,” he said.

Saiee added, “Every individual took something different from the movie. Some were smiling while coming out, and some people were crying while some came out with so much pride. That was very beautiful.”

Saiee also revealed how she and her mother loved the film narration. “After Sesh went away, I discussed with my mother that if a narration can make you feel so many emotions, imagine what the movie will do.”

Talking about how he as a writer tried to convince Major Sandeep’s parents, Sesh stated, “The first time I tried to talk to uncle, he cut my call. The second time he told me that he is not interested. The third time we let a woman talk so he was softer. While she was explaining, I snatched the phone and pleaded with him to meet me. Aunty whom now I call Amma one day looked at me and told me ‘Sandeep lag raha hai’. As soon as that happened, I knew that I got my permission.”

The actor also revealed that Mahesh Babu got on board to produce the film after solely listening to the life story of Major Unnikrishnan.

About whether she felt not seen as the film focuses majorly on Sesh’s character, Saiee spoke, “I got a really good role in the movie. I thought it was more than I could ever imagine. Feeling insecurities like that mean nothing because the movie is based on Major Sandeep’s life. Even the opportunity to be a part of that is something great.”

“After my parents watched the film, Dad said ‘good job’ to me. Papa needs a movie to be great to like it. The fact that he loved this is very special. I would have loved the movie even if you weren’t a part of it,” the actress said about father Mahesh Manjrekar.

Sesh revealed the challenges he faced while shooting the film in two different languages. "If you are designing a scene in Hindi, maybe the main dialogue comes at the end of the scene. And sometimes it would not fit with the Telugu grammar. Maybe it comes in the beginning in Telugu. So the texture of the scene, the way to act, everything changes."
