Tourist footfall at monuments across Rajasthan drops by 13%

Jaipur: Despite improved facilities at Rajasthan’s monuments, tourist footfall has significantly declined, causing a drop in revenue. In the current financial year, the income from tourism of Department of Archaeology has reduced. There has been reduction of 13.13% tourists in 33 monuments in the state and income from tourists has reduced by 12.39%. Maximum tourists have declined in the Amber.

Out of 33 monuments, tourists have reduced in 24 monuments. The revnue has dipped by Rs 3.35 crore. The number of tourists has dipped by over 5.62 lakh from April to October this year.

In Amber, the tourists dipped by 2.25 lakh, while around 1.17 lakh in Albert Hall, 1.05 lakh in Jantar Mantar, around 88,000 in Nahargarh and more than 38,000 in Hawa Mahal.

The local administration’s inability to address key issues like traffic congestion, inadequate parking, and the menace of touts is affecting tourism in the capital. Mismanagement, jams, and rude behavior of touts are deterring visitors, raising concerns about Jaipur’s tourism future.
